The Limbe City Mayor Paul Efome L.M Ngale has sealed the First Deputy’s Mayor office. This follow a call by the City Councillors during the budgetary session last December 2022.
According to information gathered by the SUN, the First Deputy Mayor, Karen Nora Muto Tanga epse Wouapit virtually violated the City Mayor’s instruction that no body should enter the Council office late at night when the Council has closed.
She is alleged to have entered the Limbe City Council premises on at least two occasions late in the night after scolding the Council security guards.
The SUN learnt she has not been present for duty for over eight months but surprisingly on Monday, April 24, 2023 she reported for duty but found her office sealed. Speculations are rife that she came to attend the committee session ahead of the administrative, management and stores accounts session slated for Wednesday, April 26, 2023. .
The SUN later learnt that she went to report the matter to the Senior Divisional Officer that she came to work but discovered that her office has been sealed . However, the City Mayor, Paul Efome L.M. Ngale whom we talked to wonders why she didn’t report to him if she was actually coming to resume work.
The City Mayor reiterated that said he has nothing against her but just wanted her to respect his order. He said he has been tolerant with her for all this while but she can not come after eight months and not report herself to him and she thinks she can just walk into the office.
Call to order
The City Mayor Paul Efome L.M Ngale had earlier expressed with a lot of dissatisfaction, the attitude of his subordinate and first deputy City Mayor Madam Karen Nora Muto Tanga epse Wouapit aimed at tarnishing the image of the Limbe City Council.
This was contained in a letter addressed by the city mayor on August 3, 2022 in which he highlighted poor conduct towards other staff of the council, irregularities at work as well as disrespect for hierarchy and public institutions.
In the letter, the mayor pointed out that Madam Karen Nora Muto Tanga epse Wouapit addresses council staff rudely accompanied by her husband, regularly invited unidentified individuals to perform unusual rituals on council premises and carried out field work on behalf of the Limbe City Council without any prior authorization from the City Mayor.
The letter equally noted that Madam Karen Nora Muto Tanga epse Wouapit had gone as far as bringing in and imposing non-council staff to work as a secretary at the secretariat of the Directorate of General Administration of the Limbe City Council.
According to the letter she went ahead to sign out the sum of fifteen million FCFA15,000,000 francs CFA from the ministry of tourism and on behalf of the council and has never deposited the said sum into the coffers of the council till date.
The City Mayor called on her to cease and deceased immediately from these acts of rebellion to the council which do not only play negatively on the council, but also gives a very bad image of her personality.
He says he will no longer tolerate the poor and demining attitude of the first deputy in the council, and will be forced to take actions if need be.
