The Sub Divisional Delegation of Youth Affairs and Civic Education for Limbe II has launched a comprehensive outreach programme aimed at instilling civic responsibility, promoting peace, and combating social ills among students in the Subdivision. The initiative, themed “Youth Civic Responsibility: Civic Engagement for Peace and Democracy,” seeks to equip young minds with the knowledge and skills necessary to become active citizens and agents of positive change.

Led by the Sub Delegate of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Hannah Loko Mwambo, the delegation visited several schools in Limbe, including GHS Batoke, GBTHS Limbe, Leaders Integrated College, and Miracle Comprehensive High School amongst others. The team was accompanied by representatives from Strive for Excellence Foundation (SELF), a local organization committed to promoting youth development.
The programme focused on critical issues affecting young people, including drug abuse, sexual harassment, and the importance of peaceful coexistence. Through interactive sessions and presentations, students were educated on the dangers of substance abuse, the consequences of sexual misconduct, and the value of tolerance and mutual respect.

Mwambo emphasised the importance of civic engagement and responsible citizenship, urging students to take an active role in promoting peace and democracy in their environment, Homes and communities. “As young people, you are the future leaders of this country,” she said. “It’s imperative that you cultivate a culture of civic responsibility, respect for diversity, and commitment starting from your home, to the well-being of your community.”
The delegation’s visit was warmly received by school administrators and students alike. Amah Dinnah Lem, Principal of Leaders Integrated College ( LICOL), expressed her gratitude for the timely intervention. “The educational talk has a big role to play in the life of the school in general and the students in particular,” she said. “Drug abuse and sexual harassment are issues that require everyday’s advice, and we’re committed to reinforcing the messages shared by the delegation.”
Madam Lem expressed confidence that the programme would have a lasting impact on the students, inspiring them to become responsible citizens and agents of positive change. “We’re expecting to see a great change in the life of our students, and we’re committed to supporting the delegation’s efforts to promote civic engagement and moral rearmament.”
The programme is part of a broader initiative to promote youth empowerment and civic education in Cameroon. By investing in the next generation, the government and its partners hope to build a more informed, engaged, and responsible citizenry.
