The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi was in front of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly last November 30, 2022 to defend the budgetary allocation for his ministry that stands at FCFA 528,658 billion.
Accompanied by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Public Works in charge of Roads, Armand Ndjodom, the Minister spent 3 hours 20 minutes defending the budgetary allocation.
12 Members of the National Assembly out of the 17 in the hall posed preoccupations to the minister on construction, rehabilitation or road maintenance in the country.
For the year 2022, the ministry of public works had a budget allocation of FCFA, 528,658 billion in payment appropriations, namely 491,458 billion for credits payment of which 432,500 billion is the investment budget and 58,958 billion for the operating budget, including FCFA 45 billion for the Road Fund.
Following Ordinance No. 2022/001 of 02 June 2022 amending and supplementing certain provisions of Law No. 2021/026 of 16 December 2021 on the finance law of the Republic of Cameroon for the 2022 financial year, the MINTP budget was reduced to 516,61 billion in payment appropriations.
Talking to reporters, the Public Works boss said “we have to complete the construction of roads we have already started. It is not necessary to start when you have not yet completed taking into consideration financial constraint. We will start with the Babadjou-Bamenda road, the Ring Road project and continue with the Mora-Dabangi-Kousseri road.”
