Cameroon’s Ministry of Public Health and the country’s telecommunications company, CAMTEL have signed a partnership to digitalise and improve health services across Cameroon. Last May 6 in Yaounde, Health Minister, Manaouda Malachie and CAMTEL General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday epse Achidi engaged the action in the presence of financial
and technical partners.
According to the health boss, the signing of the partnership deal will boost the reinforcement of the technical contributions of CAMTEL in elaborating digital and strategic health plan. Manaouda noted CAMTEL’s efforts to the successes recorded thus far in the implementation of the Universal Health Coverage programme across Cameroon. He maintained that the second phase of the programme will consist of deploying the various equipment for efficient implementation of the projects.

According to CAMTEL GM, Judith Yah Sunday, it is a privilege for the telecom company to partner with the Health Ministry to significantly improve on the health system in Cameroon.
She said, “Building on CAMTEL’s rich experience, and considering the missions assigned to the Ministry of Public Health to improve the health system in general and the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in particular, also considering the requirements of digital sovereignty CAMTEL and MINSANTE have resolved to set up, through an agreement, a transformation of public health service.”
She furthered that, “We (CAMTEL) have taken the commitment under certain conditions and terms, to provide the Ministry of Public Health with secure and redundant internet connections, high-speed interconnections, as well as data security solutions and access to Data Center services.”
In line with the partnership, CAMTEL will host strategic platforms like MAMALPRO, Chèque Santé and the Universal Health Coverage within its Tier III certified Data Centre Zamengoe, a locality in Okola Subdivision, Centre Region.
