The Consumer Product Supply Regulatory Authority, MIRAP has extended its services to Kumba as a means to fight against the high cost of living in the city and to help boost the supply of highly consumed products.
This information was revealed by the Head of Protective Unit, MIRAP, Michel Kanga on October 13 at the Kumba City Council grandstand during the launching of MIRAP program in Kumba.
“We have come to Kumba to fight against the high cost of living because we have noticed that the rate of inflation in Kumba is very high”, he noted.
The exercise which started on October 13 will last for a period of one month with the sale food stuffs and goods of basic necessities at very low cost.
The Head of the Protective Unit, MIRAP noted that Kumba is the third town in the Southwest Region after Buea and Limbe where they have instituted this operation called Special Standard Market. He furthered that 10 tons of products will be supplied daily with a 20% discount of each commodity.
He called on the population to shop at MIRAP market since the prices of products are cheaper compared to those sold in the market.
Ma Helen Ngoe, a denizen in Kumba who shopped at MIRAP market appreciated the reduction of price and the quality of products sold. She noted that MIRAP extension of services to Kumba, for the first time, will go a long way to assist the population purchase items at a cheaper rate. She added that operation MIRAP standard market will equally bridge the gap between the rich and the poor in our communities.
It should be noted that MIRAP is an inter-ministerial project involving the Ministries of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industry, Mines and Trade and Commerce.
