Members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the opposition Social Democratic Front, the SDF party has adopted their campaign plan ahead of the October 12, 2025 presidential election in Cameroon. The adoption was made in a crucial meeting held at the Centre Regional Headquarters at Olezoa in Yaoundé, chaired by the National Chairman of the SDF party, Hon Joshua Osih Nambangi, who doubles as the party’s flagbearer for the presidential poll.

In his preliminary statement, Hon Joshua Osih told NEC members that, “this marks another important step in preparing our party and our supporters for the challenges ahead, as we remain committed to defeating the 43-year-old CPDM regime and a better future for all Cameroonians.”

He said, “I have the conviction that this election is our election. I would like to use this occasion”, he stated.

The campaign team is headed by the 2nd Vice national president of the SDF, Louis Marie Kakdeu, accompanied by Fadimatou Dewa and Benjamin Fru Ndi.

After the crucial NEC meeting, Hon Joshua Osih hinted to reporters that, “we might still have another NEC meeting. But it may as well be the last NEC meeting I’m chairing, because as you know, the constitution of the SDF doesn’t permit the chairman to be the Head of State, and vice versa.” The SDF party Chairman added that, “since we’re looking forward to winning this election, it’s a very important meeting for all of us. We’re taking stock of where we are with our polling agents, you know, we put ourselves on a challenge to have every polling station manned. And so we are in the middle of that exercise right now, getting reports from the field.”

He said, “we are confident that we’ll get there before the 11th of October, one day before the election. Because from every report, we’re covering around 90% already of the polling stations. But you know, you always have amendments, corrections and things like that, that occurs. So we’re very confident, and the reports we’re getting from the field are very positive as well. And so we’re looking forward to this election with very good results.”

About the campaigns to start in less than two weeks, Hon Osih said, “we see a lot of agitation around, especially up north. We’ll have a couple of rallies, I guess in the 10 regions. And we will do as much as possible door-to-door campaigning. We want to be as effective as possible. And so we understand that the most important thing is to secure the votes. So, we need to be in the polling stations. So, we’re putting 80% off our energy into that. And it takes time and energy to get there. And so we will have our rallies to sell our political programme.”

He declared that “Cameroonians are showing a lot of political maturity. And so, we are really very enthusiastic about the fact that for once, in a political campaign like this one, in a presidential campaign, we’ll be talking to people who are politically alert. And so that will make a big difference for us. We have civil society organisations, political parties who will be campaigning with us. We have trade unions also who are with us and will be campaigning with us. We decided to focus on everything that has been done in the 10 regions and above all to agree on the campaign period together, because we want it to be a door to door one.”
