With less than a month to the October 12, 2025 Presidential Election, the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) is leaving no stone unturned in the South West Region. Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute has completed a series of high-level consultations with party elites, aimed at ensuring an overwhelming victory for President Paul Biya in his eighth presidential bid.
The latest round of consultations brought together CPDM heavyweights and grassroots representatives from four divisions; Lebialem, Kupe-Muanenguba, Manyu, and Ndian. It marked a continuation of discussions that began in July with elites of Meme and Fako Divisions, reinforcing a unified regional campaign strategy.

-We’re fired up – Paul Tasong
Speaking after the enlarged session, Paul Tasong, Head of the CPDM Permanent Delegation for Lebialem, said the meeting with the Prime Minister had renewed their determination. “We shared with the Prime Minister how far we have gone with preparations. We also shared the challenges we’re facing and our reflections on the context under which these elections are going to be held,” he told reporters. Tasong, who convened his division in August to ensure grassroots readiness, emphasised that the PM’s direct engagement left them even more energised. “We are fired up to deliver a sheer victory for our National Chairman, President Paul Biya,” he declared.

-Manyu pledges loyalty – Victor Mengot
In his remarks, Minister of Special Duties at the Presidency, Victor Arrey Mengot, said the session was timely and gave momentum to strategies already in motion in his home division, Manyu. He noted that the population of Manyu had never been more resolved to vote for Biya, despite attempts by opposition parties to win them over.

“Manyu has always voted for the CPDM. Manyu will vote for the CPDM,” Mengot said emphatically. He added that no alternative political project resonates with the people as much as the vision of Biya’s Communal Liberalism.

However, the Minister admitted that insecurity remains a major obstacle to campaign efforts in the division. “Our challenge is reaching the people with the message of the Head of State, who has pledged to devote his next mandate to youth and women,” he explained. Mengot also seized the occasion to present urgent local concerns to the Prime Minister, citing the breakdown of a community generator that has left residents without light and water.
-Unconditional fidelity – Ngole Ngole
Prof. Elvis Ngole Ngole, Director of the CPDM Academy and leader for Kupe-Muanenguba, reiterated that President Biya remains their sole candidate. He highlighted the fact that all councils and parliamentary seats in Kupe-Muanenguba are controlled by the CPDM, a clear sign, he argued, of the division’s unwavering loyalty.
“Our loyalty, our fidelity to the CPDM is unconditional,” he affirmed. Ngole Ngole expressed absolute confidence that the October polls will produce “a historic outcome” for the ruling party.
-Ndian and regional unity
Elites from Ndian also presented their readiness and ongoing mobilisation efforts, aligning with the broader regional strategy spearheaded by the Prime Minister. Party officials say that with all six divisions of the South West now consulted, there is a collective sense of unity and purpose. During the two-day session in Buea, the Prime Minister also met with other stakeholders, reinforcing party cohesion and fine-tuning strategies in line with the national campaign roadmap.
-Countdown to campaigns
With the consultations concluded, PM Dion Ngute is expected to brief President Biya, conveying the region’s steadfast support. Party insiders say this assurance is crucial, as Cameroon counts down to the official start of campaigns on September 27, in accordance with the Electoral Code.
As the ruling party braces for the polls, the South West Region has emerged as one of its strongest bastions of support. From Lebialem’s renewed zeal, Manyu’s loyal pledge, Kupe-Muanenguba’s total alignment, to Ndian’s readiness, the message is consistent: the South West intends to deliver an emphatic victory for President Biya.
For the CPDM, the challenge now lies not only in sustaining momentum but also in overcoming security and logistical hurdles to ensure that the message of continuity, stability, and renewed commitment to youth and women reaches every corner of the region.
