22 schoolchildren, who are kids of deceased members of the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists – CAMASEJ, shall in the days ahead receive back-to-school support, to assist in their educational process. The association, headed by Jude Viban, has disbursed cash support to the children, located across the various chapters of the association.
In line with a statement released by CAMASEJ, the gesture amounts to nearly FCFA 2 Million, gifted to children of up to 10 deceased members of the association. The SUN gathered that each child will receive FCFA 75,000, programmed to cater for school fees, books and other didactics.
According to the association, “This initiative by the National Bureau is part of CAMASEJ’s commitment to stand with the families of its members who have passed on, ensuring that children continue to access education despite the challenges.”
The beneficiaries include nine children from two deceased members of Kumba Chapter, eight from five deceased members of the Bamenda Chapter, two from a deceased member of Limbe Chapter, two from a deceased member of Yaoundé Chapter and one from Douala Chapter.
CAMASEJ National President, Jude Viban notes that, “this back- to-school support reflects our solidarity as a family of journalists.” Viban emphasises that, “While our colleagues may be gone, we remain committed to ensuring their children are not forgotten.”
Describing the initiative as one which provides dignity and hope to the kids, the association urges members and partners to fuel in support to keep the vision alive.
