Telecoms giant, MTN Cameroon has once again reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible digital practices among young people. The company partnered with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MINPOSTEL) during the Digital Days Festival held in Ebolowa last August 29 and 30, 2025 under the patronage of Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng.
Holding under the theme, “Youth and Digital: How to Create, Innovate, Dare?” the event brought together over 300 young people from Mvila Division in the South region with the goal of inspiring them to embrace the opportunities of the digital world as tools for self-reliance, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the occasion, the P&T Minister, Libom Li Likeng reminded participants that the festival forms part of the National Digital Festival, aimed at building a culture of digital citizenship among Cameroon’s youth.
Addressing hundreds of students, Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs at MTN Cameroon, Marie Germaine Ndzie, urged participants to be cautious when navigating the online world. “Going digital opens up opportunities, but it also requires constant vigilance and respect for safety codes to move forward without risk,” she stressed.
Her message resonated with the students. “I’ve learned that I should not trust every online profile, but rather focus on safe learning platforms and avoid suspicious sites,” said Christian Abolo, a participant.
MTN Cameroon insists its role goes beyond providing Internet access as Marie Germaine Ndzie explains: ‘‘We cannot limit ourselves to being distributors of connectivity. Through our ‘Child Online’ programme, we support both children and parents to ensure a safe and responsible use of the digital space.”
The Digital Days also featured training sessions on innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence, and workshops on digital citizenship. The best student performances in ICT, with special recognition for young girls, were rewarded. In addition, MTN Cameroon donated ICT equipment to several schools in the division, as part of its solidarity and investment in youth empowerment.
