CAMASEJ Limbe journalists sharpen skills on election reporting

Members of Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) Limbe chapter, on Saturday, September 20, 2025 deepened their knowledge on election reporting, in the build up to the Sunday, October 12, 2025 presidential election in Cameroon.

Speaking during the workshop, the Divisional Delegate of Communication for Fako Division, Carine Ngoueli epse Viang congratulated CAMASEJ Limbe for the workshop. She described it as timely, barely weeks to the presidential election. The delegate opined that the journalists have been equipped to carry out their activities during the upcoming presidential election.

“My greatest expectation is that journalists should be responsible and preach inclusivity in their reporting during the election. So, everyone feels concerned and listened to”, Carine Ngoueli said.

She added that security forces will be available for safety of journalists during the election.

On his part, the Managing Editor/ CEO of The SUN Newspaper, Wasso Norbert Binde expressed satisfaction with the training and urged journalists to be concise.

“Let’s leave our opinions aside and give voice to the candidates and also let’s not give them highway to come and spill anything that is not realistic. For the incumbent, he has to give us a balance sheet of what he has accomplished so far”, Wasso Norbert said.

He urged journalists to confront candidates with the worries of the population and urged them to be objective, balance and fair in the way they treat and disseminate information.

Wasso Norbert told journalists to cease from comments or taking sides in their reports.

In her intervention, CAMASEJ Limbe chapter president, Zita Alliah Awah expressed joy with the turnout of journalists during the workshop which she opined is an eloquent testimony that they are eager to change the narrative.

 

“I know that we’re going to make the difference this year and we shall be recognised. So, they should watch out with what the journalists of Limbe are coming up with and we’re going to report professionally and ethically.”

She added that this maiden edition of the new regime’s workshop will transform journalists in Limbe to be great again.

Zita Alliah and her executive promised to hold subsequent workshops in the days ahead to empower members.
