Leaders of the Cameroon Association of English-speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) Limbe Fleet Street Chapter, recently met with Mayor Nseke Dibotti Luma of Limbe III Council to strengthen relations between local media and government officials, as well as join forces to combat fake news.
Speaking at the event, the Chapter president of CAMASEJ Limbe, Zita Aliah Awah stressed the importance of maintaining public trust in the media, especially in today’s world where misinformation spreads quickly.

Wasso Norbert, CEO of The SUN Newspaper, Senior Adviser to CAMASEJ Limbe Fleet Street Chapter and Member of the National Disciplinary Committee, shared valuable insights on how the council and media can work together effectively. He emphasized that collaboration doesn’t mean favoritism, but rather transparency and ethics.
On his part, Mayor Nseke Luma welcomed the visit and expressed his desire to work closely with CAMASEJ Limbe Fleet Street Chapter. He outlined plans to promote accurate reporting about the council’s activities, highlighting the need for reliable information in community development.
The Mayor also urged journalists to prioritize fact-checking and combat misinformation. He believed that with President Zita’s leadership, CAMASEJ Limbe Fleet Street Chapter can make a significant impact in promoting accurate reporting.
The meeting portrayed that fighting misinformation requires a collective effort from both media and government officials. By working together, they can build trust and strengthen democracy in the community.
