The production of Cameroonians Identity Cards will no longer be a nightmare to many following an announcement from the Delegate General for National Security, Martin MbargaNguele.
He made the announcement last September 29, 2023 that the issuance of National Identity Cards will soon be possible in less than 48 hours. Martin MbargaNguele was speaking in Douala as he officially inaugurated the Littoral Centre for Passports Issuance.
The Delegate General for National Security disclosed that the President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya has just authorized the putting in place of a new system for the issuance of National ID cards with the same partnership model as that of the biometrics passport.
National Identity Cards will therefore be issued in less than 48 hours after the applicant’s day and hour of deposit. In few months, a partnership will be signed to construct three autonomous centres in Yaounde, Douala and Garoua.
Each of these modern centres will also be constructed alongside a minimum of 15 enrolment centres in each of the region. The number of identification posts will increase from 280 to 543. More than 700 fix kits and 300 mobile kits will be installed in the identification posts in the country.
The Delegate General for National Security also indicated that an inter-ministerial committee will soon be put in place to look for lasting solutions to the problem of double and fake identity which many Cameroonians do face before the launch of the new system for the issuance of national identity cards.
