The new quarter head of Ekemue I quarter, Kumba I Sub Division, Meme Division, South West Region of Cameroon has been called upon to promote core values of living together, unity and social cohesion.
This clarion call to the new quarter head of Ekemue I quarter was reechoed by the representative of the Paramount Ruler of the Bafaws and monarch of Kumba, Abwa Mbontana Abwa, Chairman of the Kumba Traditional Council, while installing Nkume Sona Ngoh Johnson, Friday August 15, 2025.
The installation was historic with a huge population attending, because the new quarterhead is the first Bafaw son to occupy the seat in the history of Ekemue I quarter.
While introducing the new Quarter head to the Ekemue I population, the representative of the Nfon stated that Sona Ngoh is the first Bafaw son to be appointed as quarter head of Ekemue I. He argued that if the Bafaws are appointed only now, it is because they were the early communities to practice in reality the principle of living together
The representative of the Paramount Ruler for the Bafaws and Chief of Kumba, hailed the population of Ekemue I for their massive turn-out to witness the installation ceremony of their leader, who will henceforth pilot the affairs of Ekemue I.
Abwa remarked that the appointment of the quarter head is not by chance but rather a fulfilling one, as he is convinced that he is going to lead the people of Ekemue I in the right way for peace and tranquility to reign. He hinted that a leader is meant to serve, not to be served, thus a servant not a master. He enjoined the new quarter head to inject the spirit of love of and unity within the Ekemue I quarter
The representative also urged the denizens of Ekemue I quarter to always take their problems to the new quarter head for proper solutions with approval from the Paramount ruler. He cautioned that there shall be challenges but such challenges shall be surmounted through effective collaboration by the quarter head and his councilors.
The representative of the Divisional Officer of Kumba I, Fang Gilbert, on his part said his message was that of peace, love, kindness to be shared among the neighbours.
The visibly happy new quarter head, Nkume Sona Ngoh Johnson promised to govern in the interest of his people.
