Mounouna Foutsou impressed with Village of Opportunities organised to mark International Youth Day 2025

Within the framework of the 26th edition of the International Youth Day, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education organised, last August 11, 2025, a Village Opportunities for Youths at the esplanade of the Yaoundé Omnisports Stadium, under the theme, “local youth actions for SDGs and beyond.” Chairing the event, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou was impressed with what the young people demonstrated as creativity and talents.

The Minister reiterated government’s commitment to accompany and valorise the Cameroonian youth. He said the theme was in a context of intensified implementation of the National Civic Education programme through Moral, Civic and Entrepreneurial Rearmament (PRONEC-REARMORCE), for a youth better equipped to participate in the construction of the national edifice.

The Youth Affairs and Civic Education boss appreciated and saluted the maturity of the Cameroonian youth who came out with this declaration on peace before, during and after the October election, following their consultation during the hangout that the vizio conference organised with the youth of Cameroon and the diaspora. “So this declaration is a call not only to young people but to all Cameroonians to be builders of peace in our nation before, during and after the election. I think everything was a success and I congratulate all the organisers and the young people themselves’’,

Minister Mounouna Foutsou told reporters.

He also said that, “the theme of this celebration is in line with the policy of the Head of State which aims at organising young people to participate in local development. That’s why he put in place structures like the Cameroon National Youth Council, the Cameroon National Mass Education Council, Youth Parliament, Regional and Municipal Youth Councils and all associations and movements of young people and mass education. That’s why this celebration was a success by their mobilization, particularly through this mini march pass which was very colourful and which shows that young Cameroonians are very talented and they are well organised in thematic networks tying with the sustainable development goals which is a testimony that young people are really involved in the implementation of the SDGs in Cameroon’’, he explained.

The Cameroon National Youth Council represented by its Executive Bureau President, Fadimatou Iyawa Ousmanou signed a deal with ICT University represented by Prof Jean Emmanuel Pondi.

The Director of Association and Youth Participation at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Rahmatou Sadjo épse Molluh was the Village Coordinator.
