Lobe Estate, located in Ndian Division in EkondoTiti Subdivision which is known for her good climate and soil and which hosts the Pamol head quarter, has been badly hit by the ongoing Anglophone crisis and many have deserted the area, as everyday there is serious confrontation between the military and separatist fighters.
With its cold and good fertile soil, people from the ten regions of the country deemed it good to reside in the village to make their livelihoods, but inhabitants have all fled into the bushes for the fear of the unknown, and schools and other places are completely empty.
Speaking to The SUN, a teacher working with GTHS EkondoTiti, Miriamu Nabanga said life is tough because the economy is draining down gradually, children are not going to school, the health sector is down with few workers around them and equally the facilities to make life good are not there.
Miriamu Nabanga appreciated the management of Pamol Estate for working hard to reinstate electricity, as she said they had breakdown for over six months now. She is however optimistic that, when electricity will be reinstated, water and other developmental projects will follow suit.
“The only message is inclusive dialogue to be called for those concern, so that at the end of the day the children will go back to school which in the long run life will come back to normal for those working in the plantation”, Miriamu Nabanga stated.
She however noted that, GTHS EkondoTiti is not as it used to be as the student population has drastically dropped, the teaching staff is present but no student, as parents and students are afraid of the uncertainty that is around them.
On her part, Mesode Yvonne, central wage clerk at Pamol Estate said the population is witnessing financial difficulty for over a year now after Pamol Estate temporarily shutdown. Also, a lot of people are sick as a result of drinking water from doubtful sources. She urged the government to resolve the crisis and reinstate peace back in North West and South West Regions.
Suh Valentine lamented that they can’t go to the farm because separatist fighters attack them and collect everything on them. He narrated biter experience since the crisis started. Suh also decried the fact that his children are unable to read and write because of too much laxity at home.
