The Back -to – School campaign for the 2025/2026 academic year in the basic education sector in Meme Division was successfully launched on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Kumba I Council hall. This was during the Meme Divisional First Education Sector Conference with the theme “Education for Transformation: inclusion, Peace, and unity for Global Development”, that took place under the distinquished patronage of the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Meme, Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlin.
After an elaborate presentation from the Divisional Delegate of Basic Education, Meme, Matuke Ivo, on the results and challenges of last academic year, the event provided an opportunity marked by greater commitment and resolve.
The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, extended heartfelt congratulations to the resilient teachers who have remained dedicated to their noble mission despite challenges. However, the SDO expressed strong disapproval of those who have abandoned their duties yet continue to collect salaries, emphasising that such actions undermine the education system.
The SDO promised that clandestine schools operating without authorisation will be shut down to protect the integrity of education in the division. Traditional leaders were challenged to play an active role by providing an enabling environment for schools to operate effectively, ensuring that every child has access to quality education.
The Basic Education stakeholders including the various Inspectors of Basic Education and Head Teachers from all the primary and nursery schools in Meme Division took a commitment to all answer present on Monday, September 8, 2025, to ensure effective school resumption.
The First Education Sector Conference cum launching of the 2025/2026 academic year of the Basic Education was punctutated by academic presentations from Basic Education stakeholders.
It should be recalled that school resumption in Meme Division have always been in a snail pace due to the anglophone crisis rocking the North West and South West Regions for over eight years now.
