Curtains have been drawn on the Bertoua Zonal University Championship, Chazu B with students’ athletes taking the appointment for the University of Ebolowa in 2026.

The highest number of student athletes; 1,740 compared to the other zonal universities championships, are taking part at the final stage of Zonal Universities Championship, CHAZU B in Bertoua, regional capital of the East.
Officially opening the competition last July 28, 2025, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education and Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo who doubles as the President of the Federal Council of the Federation of University Sports, FENASU, called on athletes from the State Universities of Yaounde I, Yaounde II, Soa, Ebolowa and Bertoua, as well as other private higher education institutions in the Centre, South and East regions, to demonstrate the spirit of excellence and fair-play.
He gave the kick-off of the tournament in the presence of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who doubles also as Vice President of the Federal Council of FENASU.
The Minister of State saluted the massive adhesion of students in the ideologies of FENASU, fair-play, tolerance, respect, performance, academic excellence and fraternity.
In a total sport ambiance, many athletes and their officials, as well as administrative and municipal officials, political and traditional class converged on the Divisional Stadium of Bertoua to witness the opening football match between the University of Yaounde II, Soa and the host University of Bertoua. The match ended with a 1 nil victory for the University of Yaounde II, Soa.
The Rector of the University of Bertoua, Prof Remy Magloire Etoua made a tour of the various teams to encourage them at each time of the competition.
Under the presence of administrative authorities and thanks to MTN’s commitment, this major event allowed to forge strong bonds between young people and nurture their dreams.
MTN and FENASU joined forces to offer young people the opportunity to thrive, grow, and fully participate in building a solidary and innovative society.
