The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) Fako III Section in Buea has marked the party’s 41st anniversary with a powerful display of political strength and a renewed pledge of loyalty to its National President, Paul Biya. Meeting under the theme, “Let us prepare to further consolidate the strength and position of the party behind the National President,” militants and hierarchy alike used the occasion to strategize for the upcoming 2026 legislative and municipal elections.
Speaking during the celebrations, the CPDM Fako III Section President, Comrade David Mafani Namange, reflected on the four-decade journey of the party. He described Cameroon as a “rainbow nation,” a transformation he attributes largely to the CPDM’s policy of national integration. “When I was a child, more than five decades ago, you could easily identify Buea to the Bakwerians… Today, everyone is practicing ‘living together’,” Namange noted. He emphasized that while leadership is often met with the “economics of demand and supply”, where expectations often exceed resources, the party stands proud of its record in maintaining peace and foster togetherness.
The anniversary served as a platform for the party’s specialized wings to reaffirm their commitment to the 2035 emergence vision. On behalf of the Youth Wing (YCPDM), speakers highlighted the President’s focus on digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation as key tools in deterring illegal immigration and violence.
The YCPDM militants hailed the President for maintaining Cameroon as an “island of peace” despite security challenges in the Far North and the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West regions.
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Regina Wotany, the WCPDM Section President for Fako III, praised the “statesmanship” of President Biya. She emphasized that the women’s wing remains the “balm of Gilead” for the party, providing the emotional and organizational stability needed to sustain the CPDM’s dominance in Fako.
With the October 12, 2025, Presidential Election and the December 16, 2025, Regional Elections now concluded with CPDM victories, the focus has shifted entirely to the 2026 polls.
Mafani amange revealed that the party’s “secret” to success lies in its rigorous basic organ structure. “By the organization of the CPDM, we have to win all elections,” he stated confidently. He argued that if the executive members of the party’s basic cells remain united, the CPDM’s strategic depth makes it nearly impossible for the opposition to make inroads.
As the festivities concluded, the message from Buea was clear: Fako III remains a fortress for the CPDM, with its eyes firmly set on a clean sweep in the upcoming 2026 municipal and legislative contests.
