The proprietor of the fastest growing television house in Limbe, Nelson Mabang has said serious sanctions await reporters who report hate speech. He made this remarks on Saturday, August 4, 2018 during a special interview he granted to reporters.
The proprietor of Reference Television urged his workers not to give up despite the fact that things are not moving. “It is going to be okay once the crisis is over so they should take heart everything will be fine”.
Quizzed on some of the challenges he faces, he said to own a media house is really not easy, especially taking care of the staff, electricity bills among others. “We definitely need support from the government; I think that the government has a big part to play as far as the media is concern in helping especially the young ones to grow,“ Mabang told reporters.
On the unrests in the North West and South West Regions, Mabang said it’s really difficult because adverts are rare to come by owing to the difficult economic climate.
He, however, expressed optimism and prays that God will bring peace to the nation. He begged the powers that be to do all they can to solve the Anglophone crisis. “We need peace so that we can be able to raise money to pay our taxes,” he said.
Quizzed on his reason for joining the media landscape, he said he is so much in love with media. He said he was schooled in the media by his elder brother who now works with CRTV Mbom Constantine. He added that in the process of him being schooled in the media he enjoyed it. He is optimistic that the media will give him to give exposure in society.
