Four Cameroonians appointed managing directors of UBA group subsidiaries

During the last restructuration of its subsidiaries, United Bank of Africa (UBA) appointed many Cameroonians.
According to internal sources, 5 Cameroonians were appointed for management of many subsidiaries and of a regional pool in Francophone Africa.
The managers include Ché Martin from the Northwestern region. He was the managing director of UBA Congo and has been the Head of Corporate Banking at UBA Cameroon. Now, he is the regional managing director of UBA within CEMAC, a sort of top managing director who supervises the management of the group’s subsidiaries in Gabon, Cameroon, Chad and Congo Brazzaville.

Vincent Ngimbock is the new managing director of UBA Congo while Asu Ellis, Marcel Bitang, and Dominique Mahend are the managing directors of UBA’s subsidiaries Benin, DR Congo and Cameroon respectively.
For the record, during Q1 2017, UBA Cameroon was the most profitable of the group’s 10 subsidiaries in Francophone Africa. It is now managed by two Cameroonians as the deputy managing director is now Marguerite Fonkwen Atanga.
UBA West Africa I comprises of Ghana, Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote D’Ivoire, Liberia and Sierra Leone. UBA West Africa II includes Senegal, Mali and Guinea. UBA CEMAC zone covers Gabon, Cameroon, Tchad and Congo Brazaville while UBA East and Southern Africa consists of countries such as Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya and Congo DRC.
Mr Isong Udom who was recently heading UBA Cameroon, has been appointed CEO of UBA Ghana which is the biggest franchise outside Nigeria and took over from Abiola Bawuah.
Richard Dominique Hahend , the new Managing Director of UBA Cameroon holds a Bsc (Hons) in Management studies (banking and Finance) from the University of Buea since 2000.In 2002 he joined Citibank Cameroon in the capacity of a Trader. He has also worked with Ecobank.
He joined UBA Cameroon in 2008 as Head Treasury and is among the pioneer staff of the bank. He has also overseen the Central Africa Region as Regional Treasurer until he was appointed DMD. He is already profiling 16 years of experience in banking.
