BY CYNTHIA AKUM
As tensions in the North West and South West regions rage unabated, government has embarked on a protracted mission to fish out sympathisers and activists backing what is now termed the Anglophone crisis. Anyone caught, is immediately considered terrorists by the Cameroon Government and numerous trump up charges, including but not limited to propagation of false information, rebellion, revolution, secession insurrection and non -possession of National Identity card, levelled against him.
This was the case with Mancho Bibixy, Tsi Conrad, and Penn Terence, who were arrested in January 2017, brought before the military tribunal for adjudication, and subsequently stood trial before the military tribunal to bear the brunt of a failed system. They were each slammed a heavy jail sentence to serve at the Kondengui maximum security prison, while others alleged to be Ambazonian activists, in the likes of 31 year-old Tiko-based Angu Kevin Ambe, are reported to have been under military and security operatives search lights since 2018, and have been declared wanted by the regime.

Though the where about of Angu Kevin is cloudy, family sources say judicial police officers and the regime have revisited his case file and are ready to prosecute him on terrorism charges, if apprehended.
The SUN gathered from credible sources that Angu Kevin Ambe, who was a student of National Polytechnic-Bamenda, was accompanied by his two friends Holani Michael and Alangeh Kingsley, student and Driver respectively, for a courtesy visit to his mother in Nkwen, a nearby village from their college Campus, June 22 2018. On their way back, about 4 PM, their vehicle was intercepted by the military in an unusual check point. Angu and his friends were immediately tagged separatist fighters, and the military is said to have opened fire on them, killing two of Angu’s friend son the spot but he managed to escape into the bush.
According to family sources, Angu Kevin Ambe has since then been on the run following information on a manhunt against him by the military, for fear that he will reveal the truth about what transpired at the checkpoint. Following his disappearance, The SUN has it on good record that there are warrants of arrest against him, while his family and other friends have become the subjects of constant threats and harassments from the forces of law and order, to disclose his whereabouts.
Many Anglophones have been apprehended in various military and security check points, after their phones were searched and discovered therein messages, videos, pictures and images of the killings of Cameroon Military by Ambazonian Defence Forces, ferried and placed incommunicado in draconian inhumane detention conditions.
Cameroon which was praised internationally as one of the most peaceful countries in the world, is now struggling to cope with untold causalities from what many qualify as an unrelenting and insidious conflict.
Recent statistics by civil society organizations hold that death toll is on a perpetual rise, while there are claims that about 200 villages have been burnt down in the two regions, and some 430.000 people internally displaced, beside a majority of English Speaking Cameroonians that have assumed the status of refugees in Nigeria.
International organisations have already concluded that Cameroon is no longer a safe place, especially for inhabitants in the North West and South West regions where there is still continuous cross fire between the Military and Separatist Fighters. Multiple calls have been made for an inclusive dialogue to seek a lasting solution to the crisis.
