The President elect of Meme Lawyers Association, MELA has hinted that one of his core objectives is to make sure that there is advocacy in strengthening the association’s voice in pushing the interests of the legal profession through the media. “He who has information has power”, he said, “and the activities of MELA as the voice of the voiceless can only be achieved with the full collaboration of the media.”
Barrister Dr. Ebolloh Emmanuel Musango told the press shortly after he was elected new MELA president during the MELA Elective General Assembly come together that took place at the Kumba St John Catholic Church Hall on Friday January 31, 2025.

The President elect of MELA disclosed that within the two-year mandate, he and his team will among other things ensure integrity by upholding the highest standards of ethics and professionalism, professional development by providing opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth and purchase land to accommodate the MELA Secretariat. The new team also plans to ensure the recognition of MELA in important public events, the organisation of a Law Dinner, meeting with Heads of Court, the Legal Department and Heads of units to discuss issues affecting the smooth functioning of the legal profession, fight charlatanism etc.

The elections, described as one of the most democratic, transparent, free and fair by the 147 Lawyers who answered present during the process, was managed by Senior Barrister Teku Collins Oben as the chairman of the MELA elections commission, alongside Barristers Otang Roger, Tabi Derrick Bisong, Aba Tiku, Enow Samuel as retaining officers under the watchful eyes of the Special Delegate of the Bar President of Meme, Barrister Ayamba Joan Manyi. The new MELA executive according to the polls and approved by the association include:

Secretary General: Barrister Tabi Evaristus
Vice Secretary General: Barrister Akwo Ngoh David
Financial Secretary: Barrister Alemenji Elvis Nkeng
Treasurer: Barrister Arrah Elisabeth
Organising Secretaries: Barristers Enow Valery Chi, Enombe Louis Sanda and Sayong Nestor.
Talking to the Press, the Chairman of the Elections Commission sounded positive. Senior Barrister Teku Collins Oben disclosed that MELA won the elections and he sees in the new team a more focused united MELA. He used the opportunity to remind the new executive not to fail the association and they should respect their various manifestos. The elections, he hinted was not business as usual but at the end of the day, MELAN’s exercised maturity and concluded that the election was exceptionally democratic. Barrister Dr Ebolloh Emmanuel takes over from Barrister Asu Alfred who piloted the affairs of MELA from 2020 to 2024.

The President elect of MELA, Barrister Dr Ebolloh Emmanuel Musango is a member of the Cameroon Bar Association since 2008, Financial Verificator at the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court from 2011 to 2015, Aspirational Mentor, University of Bangor Law School, United Kingdom, Lecturer at EHIMBS University Kumba. He holds a PhD in Law in Criminology, Criminal Justice and Jurisprudence, University of Buea, a Masters Degree in International Intellectual Property Law, University of Leicester- England, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Law, University of Yaounde II Soa, a Bachelors Degree in Law, University of Buea. As per his leadership skills, Bar, Dr Ebolloh Emmanuel Musango is the President of Boston Youths’ Association, President of Northern Bakundu Students’ Associations, Secretary General of the Bakundu Cultural and Development Union, BACDU, and Legal Adviser of the Bakundu Chiefs’ Conference. The former Secretary General of MELA and Councilor of the Konye Council, motivational Speaker on Human Rights and Domestic Violence, is a Traditional Title holder, Ewanga Malle Wa Bakundu, Nyiama Enene Wa Bakundu and is married with several children. He loves reading, football, recreation and creativity.
