Another CAMRAIL train derails near Kumba

A train carrying about a thousand people has derailed aroundMabonji in Meme Division on, Friday, December 8, 2017 after taking off from Kumba to Mbanga.
The incident occurred few kilometers to the Mungo Bridge, 2K/M around Mabonji and 8K/M from the Kumba railway station.
According to the management of the Kumba Railway Station, the train derailed because the rails opened making it difficult for the train to follow the track of the railroad.
No major causality was recorded as the train driver managed to lean the train on the side walls of the road.
The 7:30AM train had two carriages with a population of close to a thousand.

The incident comes after numerous complaints from the management of the Kumba Railway Station to provide a new locomotive since the other one had a lot of malfunctions.
The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Meme Division, Chamberlain Ntou’ouNdong and some security officers immediately visited the area.
The administration called the Minister of Transport who assured them of immediate actions to ensure the movement and security of persons.
This is the third train derailment in the country after the Eseke train accident which claimed hundreds of lives last year and another derailment in Douala of a cargo train with no casualties.
It should be recalled that the reunification railway line was launched by President AhmadouAhidjo in 1959.
