Armed bandits attack Konye mayor in Muyuka

The Mayor of Konye Sub-Divisional Council, Dr. Barrister George Musima Lobe on May 23 survived attack from bandits in Muyuka, Fako Division.
The Mayor was traveling in his private car together with his development officer during the early hours of May 23 to Yaounde for an important electricity project meeting.
He recounted that his vehicle was stopped by armed robbers near the Source Du Pays factory near Muyuka. His driver was asked to drive the vehicle to a nearby cocoa farm where the bandits made away with valuables.
Mayor Musima alerted the CPDM Section President of Meme 1A, Lawson Tabot, equally travelling to Buea who rescued Mayor Musima from the ordeal.None of the victims suffered any major injuries from the bandits.
According to some businessmen and women in Kumba, this is not the first time such incidents are happening at that particular spot in Muyuka. They noted that such attacks always take place during the early hours of the day when business people are en route to Douala for business purposes.
Some people suggested that some drivers may be in cahoots with these bandits considering the efficacy of their operations.
They further lamented that despite the numerous attacks and loses registered so far by passengers, nothing has been done to step up security around the area.
