The Duke’s foundation in partnership with the Duchess Carwash “N” Park Buea town, on Saturday, April 8, 2023 organized a health walk in remembrance of the fourth anniversary of the passing to eternity of Late Mola George Ngomba Lisinge (The Duke of Bonalyonga)
The event equally saw the launching of the Duchess Carwash “N” Park which shall serve the people of Buea town and its environs. From the Duchess Carwash and park to the Synod Office/old BISEC road then to the governor’s office and back to the main road from the roundabout to Buea town, members of the foundation and carwash could be seen in their sporting attires carrying out a coordinated health walk/group exercises flexing their muscles and keeping fit.
Talking on behalf of the Board Chairperson of the Duke Foundation and Duchess Carwash “N” Park, Geneva Mojoko Lisinge (Duchess of Bonalyonga) was her daughter, Estherine Lisinge Fotabong who stated that the late Duke of Bonalyonga, Mola George Lisinge instilled in them love for family, love of people, love for education, culture and love for the community reasons why they can’t let such values to die off. “My very beloved father who left us on April 11 2019 was one of the first chemist/pharmacist in the South West and he believed in education in a conducive environment which is the family environment. His legacy is one of love and reconciliation that is why we organized this health walk in remembrance of him” she explained.
Estherine Lisinge Fotabong who happens to be a member of the board of directors of the Duke Foundationadded that supporting development in the community was equally a priority for the late Duke; one they are still promoting and encouraging till date. “In his honour and in honour of my mom, we are carrying out these two exercises today; the walk in remembrance of my father the Duke of Bonalyonga and the launch of the carwash and park in honour of my mother”.
Presenting a talk on nutrition was Victoria Mwirichia from the World Food Programme who told the members of the foundation and carwash/park that the health walk is significant because it’s not just about physical health but about nutrition and about the diet people eat. “It is about being able to communicate the value of good food, good nutrition and good diet which goes hand in hand with being healthy physically. WFP places huge emphasis on balanced diets, on good nutrition, healthy living and wellbeing. So that is the reason why we decided to collaborate and support the Duke Foundation and Duchess Carwash and park”
She added that WFP is open to continue collaborating with the foundation which has good activities that fall in line with what WFP supports such as healthy living.
Equally present at the event were Carosaf members and medical team who carried out blood pressure and sugar control. The Deputy Mayor of Buea Marcus Motowe was present at the event and applauded the brilliant initiative by the Duke’s Foundation. He encouraged the Duchess carwash and park and told them to make the environment more secured and make sure to always contact customers and remind them of the services that the carwash and park offers.
