A Douala based Lawyer and member of the Cameroon Bar Association Barrister Akagum Watson was on Friday November 2, 2018 rough handled by forces of law and order at the Mambanda Checkpoint along the Kumba- Mamfe high ways in Kumba III Subdivision, Meme Division, South West Region.
The Sun gathered that the legal luminary from Douala was on his way to his native Mamfe Village in Manyu Division to take part in the funeral of his family member.

While at the Mambanda gendarmerie checkpoint allegations indicate that he was carrying along a bag of rice and other items meant for the funeral in his car.
After having presented his car documents and his identification documents to the officers on duty, they asked him to off load the luggage. The legal mind pleaded and reminded them that he is a Lawyer and heading for the village and that offloading the luggage will be time consuming thus will caused him to arrive late in the village.
The Sun further gathered that the officers on duty immediately pointed accusing fingers to him saying that, he is an “Ambazonian” and that the country is in turmoil today because Lawyers triggered the crisis. They accused the Lawyer for carrying the items in his car to the Amba boys and not for a funeral.
All explanations from Barrister Akagum to exonerate himself from the allegations rather earned him slaps and kicks from the men in uniform.
Barrister Akagum, The SUN learnt was later taken to the gendarmerie brigade and after about 45 minutes of custody at the gendarmerie station was later released after Brigade commander is alleged to have apologised to the legal luminary. His released came at a time when a battery of Meme Lawyers was on their way to the gendarmerie brigade.
In a related development, a Mutengene based Lawyer in Fako Division Barrister Bache Francis was attacked by unknown gunmen on Friday November 2, 2018 at mile 16 Bolifamba .Reports indicates that his car was shattered and a bullet lodged in his left arm. As we went to Press Reports say he is reported to be responding to treatment.
