The opposition Social Democratic Front, SDF party National Chairman, Hon Joshua Osih Nambangi has declared that he will run for President at the upcoming polls and tasked members of the National Executive Committee NEC to make available 75000 polling agents for the SDF ahead of the 2025 presidential election in Cameroon. The SDF National Chairman was speaking last February 1, 2025 as he chaired the National Executive Committee meeting at the SDF Centre Regional Secretariat at Olezoa in Yaounde.

He declared that “break is over for all members of the National Executive Committee, NEC as the 2025 presidential election is at hand. All our meetings henceforth will be strictly important in 2025.”

Hon Joshua Osih explained to NEC members that the “deadline to receive lists of candidates is slated for February 8, 2025 at 12 noon while the extraordinary convention is slated for February 22, 2025.”

“NEC should be complete during this strategic period. The SDF must govern Cameroon and I will do everything possible not to let the SDF fall in the gutters”, Hon. Joshua Osih declared.

The SDF National Chairman said, “We are going in for four elections, coming in a row. I’ve said it in public already; If the calendars are respected and nothing else happens, when the electorate will be called up for the presidential election between the 5th of June and the 15th of July, from that point on everything will stop until the proclamation of the results of the municipal elections. When the electorate will be called up, June-July 2025, everything will enter into play. The register will open only after the municipal elections are closed.”

Joshua Osih further explained that, “which means that we are entering from one election to the other. So, if you build up a grandstand in Mbengwi for your rally there for the presidential, you don’t even need to destroy it, just keep it there, because the legislative elections will be coming just around the corner. So we have to understand that we are going straight into a very intense electoral cycle”, he said.

He added that, “and that will need a lot of energy from all of us. We are the leaders of this party. I always stand flabbergasted when I hear a NEC member talking about hierarchy. There is no hierarchy after NEC. The only hierarchy after NEC is the Convention. You are the hierarchy. We are the hierarchy. And the Cameroonian people are looking on to us. They are waiting for us. They are not waiting for Joshua Osih. The Cameroonian people are waiting for the SDF. And the SDF is us.”
