A non-governmental organization known as K- Towners International, with headquarters in Texas USA has come to the rescue of Internally Displaced Persons affected by the ongoing Anglophone crisis within Meme Division with Medical Health Care Amenities.
The donation by K- Towners International in synergy with CARITIS International took place recently in Kumba, Chief town of Meme Division, hosting about 5000 Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.
According to the Secretary General of K- Towners International, Barrister Beze Beje Nkem, sitting in for the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Mediki Bokeng, the organisation with humanitarian objectives as their main concern, after receiving complaints on the deplorable health conditions of the numerous IDPs within Meme Division following the negative effects of the ongoing Anglophone crisis, decided to extend a hand of fellowship to the IDPs.
He disclosed that the modus operandi used by the organisation in order for the medical amenities to reach the target persons free of charge, they had to select six medical health facilities in Kumba to carry on an inventory of the IDPs in their various health units and submit them with the essential medical amenities needed.
With the help of the Kumba Health District, six health units including Preventive Health Centre, St John Catholic Hospital in Fiango, Kosala Health Unit, 3-Corners Ntam Health Centre , Kang Barombi Health Centre, and Kumba PMI Health Unit were earmarked for the K- Towners International humanitarian gesture.
The scribe of K- Towners International urged the selected health centers to use the medical amenities for the purpose intended and not to siphon them at the detriment of helps IDPs who find themselves in Kumba not by their making.
On his part, Dr Mukwelle Isaac Ngouba, a Pharmacist in Kumba who monitored the medical amenities to make sure they are those of necessity void of doubtful source, congratulated the initiative of the organisation and called on other good will organisations to emulate their example.
Reacting to the donation, Dr Frida Ngange Mbolo’o of the Kumba 1 Sub Divisional Health Centre, PMI showered praises to the organisation for the donation which she qualified as essential and timely and took an oath to use the medication for the treatment of IDPs only.
The Chief of Centre of the Living Health Centre Kumba Mbeng, Basaka Eveline sounded optimistic that the medication shall go a long way to alleviate the conditions of the IDPs who consult at the health facility on a daily basis without the financial means to purchase the essential drugs.
Bolong Florence of chief of Centre of the Kang Barombi Health centre, hinted that her unit is situated in an area inundated by IDPs from Mbonge, Muyuka and the villages along the Kumba -Buea road, reason why she will immediately go for an aggressive campaign to cause IDPs in that area to visit the centre and collect the medical amenities.
One of the IDPs, Ijoema Uche from Mbonge- Marumba who has been under medical care at the Kumba I Health Centre for about 5 months after he was transferred from the Kumba District Health Centre expressed happiness that the medication will be able to help him, especially as his family is suffering from abject poverty. Apart from hailing K- Towners International he launched a fervent appeal to other good will organisation to come to the assistance of IDPs.
It should be recalled that K-Towners International is a humanitarian NGO created in Texas USA grouping all children born and bred in Kumba, Meme Division.
