Public Works Minister, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi has graded as satisfactory, road construction works currently executed in the West and South West regions of the country. He made the appraisal last February 1, 2018 at the end of an inspection visit that started last January 30, 2018 on the Dschang-Fongo-Tongo-Mendji-Bakebe roads and to a farm-to-market road in the West Region.
Accompanied by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Public Works in charge of Roads, Louis Max Ayina Ohandja, Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi and his delegation visited more than 320km of roads under construction to assess progress made and encourage contractors and their workers given that the dry season is an ideal moment for the acceleration of road constructions.
At Menji municipality in the South West Region, the population through their Mayor, Barrister Atabong Wung Martin Forndong expressed joy to receive Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi following the rehabilitation of the Dschang-Fontem-Bakebe road hitherto used in pains because of aggravated deterioration causing villagers to pay huge sums of money (15000FRS) as transport to Dschang during the rainy season.
The work on this road executed by MATGENIE is evaluated at a progress rate of 60%.
Described as a road of prime importance to the Lebialem man especially as it serves as a corridor for the transportation of goods from Nigeria via Ekok-Mamfe-Bakebe-Fontem-Dschang to Bafoussam, the abandonment of the tarring of the Dschang-Fontem-Bakebe road by a contractor pushed the local population to vent their anger and frustration on the government.
While in the West Region, the Governor of the region, Awa Fonka Augustin and Senior Divisional Officers concerned by the 90km stretch of road (Dschang-Fongo-Tongo-Mendji-Bakebe) later integrated the caravan of Public Works boss.
Talking to reporters, Minister Nganou Djoumessi saluted the mobilization of MATGENIE in the field and declared that government will make sure that the road will henceforth be in good shape all round the seasons.
The second step of the Minister’s visit was the farm to market road in the West Region passing through three Divisions; Menoua, Noun and Ndé.
