Orange Cameroun honoured with Top Employer Distinction in Africa

One of the most renowned mobile telecommunications operators in Cameroon, Orange Cameroun, has again received the distinction of top employer 2019 both in Cameroon and in the African continent.
The research results were organized by the internationally reputed Top Employer Institute, which declared Orange Cameroun, the winner during the Sandton convention at their centre that held in Johannesburg, South Africa earlier this month.
The Top Employer Institute promotes the exceptional efforts of enterprises across the globe, focused to improving the employee’s or human resource environment and conditions. The criteria used by T.E.I. to certify distinction include the operation of the said enterprises in at least four countries including the host countries. Top Employer then conducts an independent investigation through the employees of the enterprise wanting to know the best human resource (HR) practices in questionnaires provided to workforce, structured in up to 10 themes or subheadings.

It was learnt that Top seeks to know the strategic management of talents, the general planification of the workforce, training and development of competitiveness and how competence is managed to help develop leadership in the workforce.
Reliable sources said evaluation was based on 600 human resource practices sub-divided as mentioned earlier. The questionnaires are then analysed by TEI and handed over to a jury made up of qualified representatives of approved organisations, who will later go through the analyses and organize an independent audit on the competitors, and the results analysed to certify winners.
Orange Cameroun is said to have been compensated for the fourth consecutive session with an eye fixed on the general conditions of work especially on issues like workers’ salaries offered by the enterprise, the working environment, and the general improvement of the practices of human resources.
Acknowledging the international distinction, the General Manager of Orange Cameroun, Frederic Debord, recognized that “This is the result of collective effort that has been made possible by the workers and the human resource (HR) services of Orange Cameroun, who on a daily basis strive to improve our well being”.
