Parents’ National Education Union School, PNEU Bota Limbe, recently held its General Assembly, G.A. with main objective to resolve the crisis which has been plaguing the school for some time now.
The renowned 69 years old PNEU Bota has in recent times been engulfed in a crisis emanating from the former and present executive ranging from accusation of mismanagement of funds, poor treatment of teachers, taking matters to court among others.
All these issues were addressed in the general assembly, with the current executive of PNEU Bota accepting their fault and recommending the spirit of working together to bring PNEU back to its feet.
Speaking during the meeting, the Divisional Delegate of Basic Education for Fako, Nkwelle Pamela congratulated the maturity of the parents and teachers for coming together to look at the problems facing the school.
She called on parents and teachers to support the current executive in the discharge of its functions. “It has been a wonderful day to see that parents and teachers of PNEU can come together and look into the problems facing the institution and the learners, so we thank God”, Nkwelle said.
On his part, the current executive president of the school,, Enoegbe Albert Takang said the general assembly focused on two main issues; adopting the budget and issues plaguing the smooth running of the institution.
“Parents expressed their worries to the executive council and received prompt reactions. So the saga of PNEU has finally been buried to give the school a new facelift”, Takang said.
He explained that the budget for 2023/ 2024 was voted because they took over office from the former regime without a budget; they were forced to call a general assembly to adopt a budget.
On her part, the Head Mistress of PNEU, Molisa Etonde Effenge epse Manga immensely thanked God for the peace and serenity that currently reigns within the institution. She is optimistic that the teachers will now deliver the needed results.
The lead council advocate of the current executive of PNEU, Barrister Ashu Neba expressed satisfaction following the meeting and said for the sake of their children in the school, peace has to reign for the growth of the school. He said the upheavals started since the start of the academic year 2023/2024 in which some parents decided to mandate themselves as parents’ representatives to grow the current executive. He pleaded with parents to give peace a chance till May 2025 for election of new executive council members.
