Newly appointed officials of the University of Buea, UB, have been exhorted to uphold the values, rules and regulations governing the institution.
The call was made by UB Vice Chancellor, VC, Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga, on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, while commissioning the six newly appointed officials.
The installation ceremony at the Dorothy Limunga Njeuma Amphitheatre follows a presidential decree signed on January 29, 2018 appointing new officials in state universities across the country.
Those installed at the University of Buea (UB) include:
Prof. Epah Fonkeng George, new Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Teaching, Professionalization and Development of Information and Communication Technologies in replacement of Dr. Mukoko Blaise who goes on retirement.
Prof. Epah was formerly serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Cooperation and Relations with the Business World at UB.
Prof. Mrs Tumnde Njikam Martha Simo becomes Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Cooperation and Relations with the Business World after serving as Dean at the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences of UB for over a decade. She replaces Prof. Epah.
Prof. Agbor Bechem Peter Tambi is Dean of the Faculty of Education in replacement of Prof. Andre Mvesso who goes on retirement. He was formerly serving as acting Head of Department of Curriculum Studies and Teaching in the Faculty of Education of UB.
Prof. Agbor Bechem is president of the South West Teachers Association. He and his peers campaigned towards achieving a successful 2016/2017 academic year.
Professor Yenshu Vubo Emmanuel is the new Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences of the University of Buea.
He was serving as Vice-Dean in charge of Research and Cooperation at the same faculty and replaced Professor Tumnde née Njikam Martha Simo, called to other duties.
Prof. Atangcho Nji Akonumbo is pioneer Dean of the newly created Faculty of Law and Political Science. He was formerly serving as Vice Dean in charge of Research and Cooperation at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Bamenda.
Prof Ndeffo Tene Alexandre succeeds Professor Suh Che Joseph at the helm of the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters, ASTI.
Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga in his installation speech at the ceremony urged the new officials, including his private secretary, to respect the rules regulating the creation and functioning of state universities. He called on them to promote research and academic excellence.
The retired officials were congratulated for their service to the state and the university community.
After his installation, the new Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management sciences told The SUN that he will work hard to uphold the high standards set by his predecessor, Prof. Martha Tumnde.
