Being a feminist is the new way of life for many. I respect feminists, even though I’m not one. Men who support feminism are loved by women, but sometimes derided by some masculinists. I respect masculinists, yet I’m not one. Someone once asked me: “What then do you stand for?”
Well, why should I be one or the other? I’m a human being. A human being with responsibilities and rights. I choose to fulfill my responsibilities to my creator, my country, my family, and to the world. I’m a global citizen. Today more than ever, I think the world needs more skills. And as a global citizen, I believe it is my responsibility to let all the women, girls, boys, and men know that TVET (Technical, Vocational Education and Training) is what we will need to rebuild our world post COVID-19! My take is that philosophical discussions, anthropological essays and gossip are okay if you like, but won’t rebuild our world currently being ravaged by COVID-19.
If you’re reading this and still thinking that you need a more “prestigious” qualification than a Vocational one, then think of what is more prestigious than living a dignifying life and lending a hand to rebuild a world in shambles.
If you’re a feminist, I urge you to cause every woman and girl to hear this: “One vocational skill, One woman/One girl can catalyze one equal world.” If you’re a masculinist reading this, I urge you to let every boy, every man hear this: “One Vocational Skill, One boy/One man can foster global integrity.”
And if you’re a global citizen like myself, then I urge you to join me in telling Cameroonian parents and students and social influencers that “One student, one TVET skill, can breed one economically strong Cameroon.”
