In an interview with reporters, Dr Erik Essousse explained that, “we invite all citizens of voting age to come and register on the electoral registers for 2025 because we want to reinforce our electoral register. We therefore encourage particularly the youth especially as this year is electoral year. Our objective for 2025 is to go above 8 million registered voters. The objective of ELECAM is not just registering everybody but to register very committed Cameroonians who will effectively come out to vote when the time comes. Let those who are above 20 years of age come and register their names on the electoral registers before the convening of the Electoral College for the 2025 presidential election in Cameroon”, he said.

According to the General Directorate of Elections, the definitive national electoral roll counted 7,845,622 registered Cameroonians as of December 30, 2024. This includes 4,207,957 men and 3,637,665 women. The total number of registered voters for the year that just ended is higher compared to 2023, which recorded 7.3 million registered voters.

The definitive lists are already available for consultation at ELECAM’s divisional branches. Cameroonians abroad can access the lists through diaspora focal points. ELECAM teams plan to conduct extensive mobile registration caravans to facilitate the registration process.
